Yin is a passive, gentle but strong practice made up of predominantly floor-based postures and makes use of props. It works on the finer muscles and the deep connective tissues in the body. Poses are held to create space for opening deeper tissues in the body that reduce tightness and release the tension around the muscles. Done regularly, yin can help to improve flexibility.
Yin can be the perfect compliment to other yang forms of physical activity or as a way of unwinding. It can be deeply meditative and provides the ideal opportunity to delve deep into the psyche and switch off from the outside.
Yin is suitable for most levels and abilities.

The four pillars of Forrest Yoga are the Breath (to connect in feeling with one's body and ignite passion for living, Strength (via intense core sequences and long holds of poses that generate heat and heighten the senses), Integrity ( in working with the edges of one's practice, particularly around physical and emotional injuries, developing tools to deal with fear and struggle) and Spirit,( to create a sense of freedom and "courage to walk as your Spirit dictates").
A Forrest-Inspired Yoga sequence will include Pranayama (Breathwork), Seated poses including neck release, abdominal exercises, side bend, twist or hip opener, Shoulder opening, Sun salutations, Standing poses, inversions, arm balances, backbends and other asanas, Apex or peak pose, Warming Down and Savasana (relaxation).
