This foundation course is suitable for absolute beginners, those returning after a break, and anyone who would like to revisit the basics and build confidence in the fundamental postures. This introduction will help you get started on your yoga journey in a safe relaxing, nurturing and fun environment. Yoga as a holistic practice and can help improve your posture and breathing, increase your strength, balance and flexibility, ease stress and anxiety, improve your energy levels and bring a little bit of uplifting sunshine into your life.
The Course:
Week one
Overview of yoga postures and introduction to some basic postures and movements, such as easy pose, mountain, downward facing dog pose, chair and basic sun salutations – learn safe and strong alignment tips. Introduction to simple meditation and breath control (pranayama) and their benefits. Introduction to Savasana, the final relaxation pose.
Week two
Introduction to some key standing postures, their purpose and benefits. Poses covered will include Low and High Lunge, Warrior l, Warrior ll and Trikonsana. We will also look at balancing postures such as Tree and Warrior lll. Followed by a simple inversion, short meditation and breathing practice
Week three
Introduction to how to move through the spine in your yoga practice – we will learn how to safely elongate and strengthen the spine through backbends. This class will end by looking at seated postures such as forward folds and twists. Followed by a short meditation and breathing practice.
Week four
Bringing together everything we have covered so far into a full class practice including elements of pranayama, postures and meditation. Another chance to ask questions guidance on where to go next with your yoga practice. Overview of different types of yoga.
Things to bear in mind:
Description: The training will involve standing, seated and lying postures.
Student Waiver and Medical Form: Please complete and return to christine@christinenoelyoga.com ahead of class.
Equipment: Bring your own mat, blanket and (strap and blocks if you have these already).
Clothing: Leggings, loose comfortable clothing, layers, gyn clothes, socks, jumper.
