Hi! I’m Christine. I have been practicing all types of yoga for over ten years and am passionate about anything related to yoga and sharing the joyous benefits of yoga with others in a safe, friendly and relaxing environment.
I completed a 200 hour Anusara® Immersion and Teaching Training at Red Hot Yoga Studio in Guildford in 2018-2019. This course is accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals. I am a certified Anusara Elements™ yoga teacher and am fully-insured and registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals. In addition, I am certified to provide Emergency First Aid at Work.
I teach in the greater Guildford area, Cheltenham and elsewhere by arrangement. I love to teach group classes, small groups, one to ones and get involved in corporate group lessons, workshops and corporate events. I have experience of teaching all levels including beginners, those with injuries as well as experienced yogis.
I am constantly developing my personal practice and knowledge and read widely, attend workshops and training on a regular basis and go as a yoga students to a wide-range of yoga and fitness classes on a daily basis.
Everyone is welcome. I believe yoga is accessible to everybody. My main aim is to ensure that you walk off your yoga mat feeling better and happier than when you stepped onto the mat.
I am a certified Anusara Elements™ yoga teacher and currently teach Anusara® yoga classes.
Anusara® is a school of hatha yoga that places a strong emphasis on correct alignment. Anusara® yoga ’s unique methodology of alignment is known as the Universal Principles of Alignment (UPAs). This brings integrity to a pose and increases body awareness.
Each Anusara® class also has a meaningful heart theme that is woven into the yoga sequence and differentiates Anusara® from other types of yoga.
A typical Anusara® yoga class will include an introduction to the theme for the class, opening OM and Anusara® invocation, pranayama (breath work), warm up exercises, the full range of yoga poses moving with the breath, closing pranayama, meditation and savasana (relaxation). Usually, a class will last for 60 minutes.
The classes are suitable for all levels and abilities. Different options are given for each pose and props are used to support the poses where needed.
You will leave an Anusara® yoga class feeling inspired, energised and uplifted.
You'll feel elated!
Restorative Yoga is a deeply relaxing style of yoga requiring minimal muscular effort. Restorative poses are held for 5-10 minutes typically or longer and are fully supported by props such as bolsters, blocks and straps. This allows the body and mind to restore, heal and rest . Restorative yoga has a huge number of physical and psychological benefits.
Typically, a one hour restorative class would consist of 30 minutes of restorative poses and a 30 minute yoga nidra.
Yoga Nidra is the practice of yogic sleep that guides you to a state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleeping. Your body and mind will deeply relax and unwind. Again, yoga nidra has many health benefits for your overall mental and physical wellbeing. 45 minutes of yoga nidra is said to be the equivalent of 3 hours sleep.
It’s like a hug and leaves you feeling rejuvenated, mellow and rested.
You'll love it!
I am a qualified experienced Yin Yoga Teacher and run regular yin yoga classes. I completed a Yoga Alliance Professional approved Yin Yoga Teacher Training at Red Hot Yoga in Guildford in 2019.
Yin is a passive, gentle but strong practice made up of predominantly floor-based postures and makes use of props. It works on the finer muscles and the deep connective tissues in the body. Compared to other forms of yoga, in yin yoga each posture is held for a longer duration (up to 5 minutes or so) that makes this practice challenging. The holding of yoga poses helps create space for opening deeper tissues in the body, apart from just the muscles and tendons. These tissues, when stretched, reduce tightness and release the tension around the muscles. Done regularly, yin can help to improve flexibility.
Yin can be the perfect compliment to other yang forms of physical activity or simply as a way of unwinding. It can be deeply meditative and provides the ideal opportunity to delve deep into the psyche and switch off from the outside.
Following a yin class, you will feel grounded, relaxed and your body will feel gently lengthened,
Yin is suitable for all levels and abilities.
